The SEZ area of Schiavonea, in the Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, extends for approximately 340 hectares. It is crossed by the state road 106, the main connecting road artery, and is closely located to the port. The SEZ area is part of the industrial agglomeration of Schiavonea managed by CORAP - Regional productive activities Consortium.
75 companies are established in the SEZ area, just over 40% of the companies surveyed by CORAP, equal to 177, in the Schiavonea agglomeration. The companies mainly belong to the manufacturing sectors (agro-industry, engineering, furniture manufacturing, electronics), transport and logistics, wholesale and retail trade and services. Within the agro-industrial sector, there is a nucleus of companies dedicated to the processing of fish products, which benefit from the proximity of the port, the main reference infrastructure in the upper Ionian Calabrian area for the fishing sector.
The SEZ area has numerous active companies in the transformation of agricultural products, taking into account the proximity of the Sibari plain, one of the most extensive and fertile flat areas of Calabria, which in recent decades has experienced a significant evolution of the cultural and organizational structures, characterized above all by the production of citrus fruits, rosaceae and vegetables.
Commercial activities, accommodation and catering facilities and services to people are also widespread in the area, supporting the demand of the residents of the area but above all of the tourists who populate the coastal areas in the summer.
